7 Health Tips to Help Get You Through the Holidays
Want to make it through the holidays without falling off the wagon? Here are my top tips!
Plan ahead
Whether you want to indulge or avoid any food sensitivities, it’s important to plan ahead. If you want to splurge, decide ahead of time when/which events are important to you and which ones are less important. If you want to stay 100% on track, it’s also important to plan ahead to make sure it’s successful!
Reduce exposure to stimulation
The holidays are full of stimulation. Being overstimulated can leave you feeling stressed, moody, and anxious. Feel like all the stimulation is getting to you? Take a 1-2 day reset where you log off socials, and have a cozy home day to fill your cup back up.
Focus on the 95%
Take a moment and think about how many breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks there are between now and January 1st…There’s a lot right?! Focus on eating well and moving your body the majority of the time and the few holiday indulgences won’t have as big of an impact.
Walk after big meals
Indulged? Offset the effect by taking a walk less than 30 minutes after the meal. This can help to stabilize blood sugar levels.
Prioritize stress reduction BEFORE the holiday craziness sets in
Stock up on your zen reserves by focusing on key stress reduction activities like meditating, yoga, journaling, breathing, etc now so that you have more resilience when the bigger stress-inducing events occur.
Host
On a strict protocol…but still want to partake in the festivities? If it’s within your bandwidth, offer to host! This way you know that everything you prepared, you can enjoy!
Choose the traditions that truly fill you up, and leave the rest behind.
